Terms of Use

The page called up here is the internally operated Shibboleth Identity Provider (IdP) of HafenCity University Hamburg. The Shibboleth IdP is used for secure login to external services, so-called Service Providers (SP). For this purpose, the Shibboleth IdP is connected to the HafenCity University Hamburg user directory.

Access to the following services is currently enabled: eZeit ESS (WI), Zoom, FIS research information system, SDG Campus and services of GÉANT (eduGAIN) and DFN (DFN-AAI).

The DFN-AAI authentication and authorisation infrastructure and the connection to GÉANT eduGAIN are managed by DFN-Verein. It creates the necessary relationship of trust and the organisational and technical framework for the exchange of user information between institutions (IdP) and service providers (SP operators) in the DFN-AAI.

During the login process, the IdP first authenticates the user. This is usually done by entering the user ID and a password. Your login details are always checked at the Shibboleth IdP of HafenCity University Hamburg. This login data is not transferred to an SP. The information required to use the SP (so-called attributes) is then transferred to the SP in question. This can be, for example, the name, e-mail address or group membership within the university (students, employees, teaching staff, etc.).

In order to implement the principle of data minimization, many SPs only request SP-specific, persistent pseudonymous identifiers instead of clear names. To implement this, these identifiers are generated by the Shibboleth IdP during the login process and stored permanently. By activating the checkbox below this text, you consent to the storage of the associated information by the Shibboleth IdP. You can revoke this consent at any time by sending a declaration to the operator of the Shibboleth IdP, with a ticket (see below) or by sending an email to it-support@hcu-hamburg.de. The withdrawal of consent does not affect the lawfulness of processing based on consent before its withdrawal.

For more information on data protection, please refer to the Privacy Policy.

ATTENTION: If you wish to revoke your consent, please send a ticket with the subject “Revocation of use of Shibboleth IdP” to HCU IT Support.
